Automation Plastics Corporation (APC) is a custom mold builder and molder of thermo plastic injection molded parts. APC specializes in high volume production of precision parts used in automated assembly as well as heavy wall parts for specialty fittings that are molded and later machined in a secondary operation. An industry leader with more than 20 years of experience, Automation Plastics boasts a list of fortune 500 clientele with niches in the medical, aerospace, appliance, construction, automotive and consumer products industries. ISO 9001:2000 registered, Automation Plastics and our employees are dedicated to exceeding customer expectations and enhancing product quality. Company History Automation Plastics was founded in 1979 by Mr. Henry DeRocher, formerly of Bedford Heights, OH based Nymold, also a Plastic Injection Molder. Initial products manufactured were battery seals for Eveready Battery Company. Mr. DeRocher sold the company to its General Manager, Harry Smith in June of 1999, now Harry is our current president. Through several additions to the facility over its 23 year history, APC's facility grew to 50,500 SF and housed 29 injection molding presses with clamping forces ranging from 35-700 ton. With the addition of robotics and other automated processing equipment, insert molding was added to APC's list of capabilities. In 2002, the company completed a 6,000 SF expansion that includes engineering offices, training space, and a new tool room, which will further enable the company to provide turnkey operation for mold maintenance, design and construction, as well as molding and post-mold machining and assembly. Also in 2002, an 80 ton multi-injection press was added expanding molding capabilities to two- material, and two-color injection molding. In February of 2003, registration to the ISO 9001-2000 quality standard was achieved, furthering the company's commitment to quality excellence, continual improvement and sustained growth through its core competencies. |
